Saw 4
Ok so I saw this in theaters so it wasn't a shocking watch or anything. However the DVD viewing experience was more enjoyable. Mainly because of the ability to really nitpick and detail anything that tied in the previous 3 films. The first trap scene had more hammers to the face, so that was delicious. However the DVD cut did seem to ruin a powerful shot of the ending, shortening a powerful shot that changes the outlook of the movie. This does not ruin the overall film though thankfully. Story wise, after completely digested the movie works well and builds excitement for the 5th installment this October. If nothing else it will cause fans of the franchise to review 3 and 4 over and over just to get the timelines and connections completely right. Overall a more than acceptable 4th film in a series that is based on keeping the story tight to support the gore, and a genre not known for amazing late series films. i.e. Good= NOES4 dream master or Ft13:4 Final Chapter not Leprechaun:4 Leprechaun in Space
The Comebacks
Short review. For one I haven't enjoyed parody movies since Scary Movie 1-2 or Not Another Teen Movie, and even those can be hard to enjoy. This movie deserves a little credit for using slightly more intelligent jokes than say Epic Movie or Date Movie or any of that literal shit. I still however would recommend never seeing it. If you must watch this film, watch it with the dumbest and most simple minded friends you have (we all have them). At least then when they enjoy the film you can laugh at their absurd happiness.
Right at Your Door
Right at your Door was a surprisingly good independent terror flick. Basically Los Angeles is attacked with dirty bombs. The main character is home in the suburbs while his wife is in the city during the attack. He cannot get into the city and is stuck in his house because the air is toxic. The movie can be quiet and slow at parts, seemingly to give the viewer a similar sense of panic and unsureness along with the characters. There have been complaints about the ending, but personally i liked it. Overall the movie is worth watching, but not really a group experience. Best served as an interesting time kill.
